The Amber Ones

Locked inside ambergris.
There is a creature inside.
What we lost in one night
became a lifetime of chasing.

Shadows of the mosquito
that lived and died; in a girl
who froze on a mountain side.

I lost the flapping wings.
I lose the tiniest things.
What once was locked in forever,
somehow death could not be stopped.
From keeping life preserved somehow.
